You can also wait until ~week 25 before activating the Crimson Court. (Hint: You should activate it while you still have a party of L2 heroes to bring to the first CC mission.)
WebI will admit, though, that the DLC would be super annoying and unfun if you were expecting a totally separate, independent dungeon. You get HUGE buffs to critical stats (esp. speed and DMG), plus immunity to disease and some other nice stuff. There's a few decent trinkets that only trigger if you have the curse.
